Chapter 16
Various Offices of Christ
Christ our Example
For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me." Romans 15:3
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, Philippians 2:5
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD. Hebrews 12:2
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. Hebrews 12:3
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 1 Peter 2:21
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1 John 3:16

"Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit." John 15:2
For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, Romans 12:4
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. - -5
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12
Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. - -27
Having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, Ephesians 1:9
That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth - in Him. - -10
From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. - 4:16
For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the
LORD does the church. - 5:29
For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. - -30
For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, Hebrews 2:11
Saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will sing praise to You." - -12
And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here am I and the children whom GOD has given Me." - -13
Dwells in Man
"I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." John 14:18
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of GOD dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
Romans 8:9
And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. - -10
For "Who has known the mind of the
LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

- -26
That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.
- -27
Medium of Grace
And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. John 1:16
"But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves." - 17:13
"And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth." - -19
I thank my GOD always concerning you for the grace of GOD which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 1 Corinthians 1:4
That you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, - -5
Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, - -6
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from GOD -
and - righteousness and sanctification and redemption. - -30
And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Therefore I take pleasure in the infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - -10
May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - Ephesians 3:18

And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Colossians 1:18
And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
- 2:10
Mediator and Intercessor
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6
Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of GOD, who also makes intercession for us. Romans 8:34
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. Ephesians 3:12
For there is one GOD and one Mediator between GOD and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to GOD through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them.

My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

"For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from GOD."

Prophecy of His Priestly Office
Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.
1 Samuel 2:35
The LORD has sworn and will not relent, "You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." Psalm 110:4
High Priest
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to GOD, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17
For the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to GOD. - 7:19
And inasmuch as He was not made priest without an oath - -20
But He, because he continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. - -24
Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, - 8:1
A Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the LORD erected, and not man. - -2
For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. - -3
For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; - -4
Melchizedek
As He also says in another place: "You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 5:6
Called by GOD as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek." - -10
Where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. - 6:20
For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the alter. - 7:13
For it is evident that our LORD arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. - -14
And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest, - -15
Who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life. - -16
For he testifies: "You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." - -17
(for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him: "The LORD has sworn and will not relent, `You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek'"), Hebrews 7:21
By so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant. - -22

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, Hebrews 3:1
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of GOD, let us hold fast our confession. - 4:14
