Chapter 14
The Divinity of Christ
Prophetical Description
Your throne, O GOD, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. Psalm 45:6
You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore GOD, Your GOD, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jeremiah 23:6
"Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the Man who is My Companion," says the LORD of hosts. Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; then I will turn My hand against the little ones. Zechariah 13:7
Christ is GOD
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD. John 1:1
He was in the beginning with GOD. - -2
And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My LORD and my GOD!" - 20:28
Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of GOD which He purchased with His own blood.
Acts 20:28
Of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed GOD. Amen. Romans 9:5
But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

And we know that the Son of GOD has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true GOD and eternal life. 1 John 5:20
Predicted as Son of GOD
I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, "You are My Son, today I have begotten You." Psalm 2:7
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. - -12
Christ the Son of GOD
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD. Mark 1:1
And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" - 9:7
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, Ephesians 3:14
From whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, - -15
And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, Hebrews 3:5
But Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. - -6
So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: "You are My Son, today I have begotten You." - 5:5
Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. - -8
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of GOD, GOD abides in him, and he in GOD. 1 John 4:15
Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of GOD? - 5:5
Disputed
But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." John 5:17
Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that GOD was His Father, making Himself equal with GOD. - -18
Then they said to Him, "Where is Your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also." - 8:19
"I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father." - -38
"Do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, `You are blaspheming,' because I said, `I am the Son of GOD'?" - 10:36
One and Equal with the Father
"For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will." John 5:21
"I and My Father are one." - 10:30
Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me." - 12:44
"I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness." - -45
"If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him."

Philip said to Him, "LORD, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." - -8
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you nave not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, `Show us the Father'?" - -9
"Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves." - -11
"He who hates Me hates My Father also." - 15:23
"If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father."

Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 1 John 2:23
Is One with His People
"That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me."
John 17:21
"And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: - -22
"I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me." - -23
Image of GOD
Who, being in the form of GOD, did not consider it robbery to be equal with GOD. Philippians 2:6
He is the image of the invisible GOD, the firstborn over all creation.
Colossians 2:15
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the GODhead bodily. - 2:9
Christ is LORD
"For the Son of Man is LORD even of the Sabbath." Matthew 12:8
"Therefore the Son of Man is also LORD of the Sabbath." Mark 2:28
"But why do you call Me `LORD, LORD,' and do not do the things which I say?" Luke 6:46
"You call Me Teacher and LORD, and you say well, for so I am." John 13:13
The word which GOD sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ - He is LORD of all - Acts 10:36
Which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the LORD of glory.
1 Corinthians 2:8
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of GOD the Father. Philippians 2:11
That you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our LORD Jesus Christ's appearing,
1 Timothy 6:14
Which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, - -15
How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the LORD, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, Hebrews 2:3
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is LORD of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. Revelation 17:14
And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. - 19:16

Christ's Eternity
Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

Omnipresence

"No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is the Son of Man who is in heaven."

Omniscience
But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men,

"I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first." Revelation 2:19

Christ knows Thoughts
But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand." Matthew 12:25
And immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, "Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?" Mark 2:8
But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, "Arise and stand here." And he arose and stood. Luke 6:8
And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him, - 9:47
But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, "Why do you test Me?"

But I know you, that you do not have the love of GOD in you. John 5:42

Is Creator of all Things
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:3
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. - -10
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities, or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16
And: "You LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands; Hebrews 1:10
"And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, `These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of GOD:" Revelation 3:14
Medium of Creation
And to make all people see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in GOD who created all things through Jesus Christ; Ephesians 3:9
Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; Hebrew 1:2
Preserver of the World
And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. Colossians 1:17
Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3
Pre-Existence
When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples murmured about this, He said to them, "Does this offend you?

"What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?"

Not Mere Man

Superior to Angels

Far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:4
For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, today I have begotten You"? - -5
Worship of Christ Predicted
And He shall live; and the gold of Sheba will be given to Him; prayer also will be made for Him continually, and daily He shall be praised. Psalm 72:15
His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed in Him; all nations shall call Him blessed. - -17
Commands to Worship Him
"That all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him." John 5:23
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth. Philippians 2:10
But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of GOD worship Him."

Instances on Earth
And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Matthew 2:11
While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live." - 9:18
Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "LORD, help me!" - 15:25

Worshiped in Heaven
Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. Revelation 5:8
And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to GOD by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, - -9
And have made us kings and priests to our GOD; and we shall reign on the earth." Revelation 5:10
Saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!" - -12
And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!" - -13

And crying out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our GOD who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" - -10
Prayed To
Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, "Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask." Mark 10:35
And He said to them, "What do you want Me to do for you?" - -36
They said to Him, "Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory." - -37
And the apostles said to the LORD, "Increase our faith." Luke 17:5

Christ gives Pardon of Sins
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven you." Mark 2:5
But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, - -6
"Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but GOD alone?" - -7
So when He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you." Luke 5:20
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but GOD alone?" Luke 5:21
"Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." - 7:47
And He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." - -48
And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" - -49
Gives the Holy Spirit
"Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." Luke 24:49
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you." John 16:7
"He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you."

"And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." - -36
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - 14:27
For the Son of GOD, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us - by me, Silvanus, and Timothy - was not Yes
and No, but in Him was Yes.
2 Corinthians 1:19
For all the promises of GOD in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of GOD through us. - -20
"And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations:
Revelations 2:26
`He shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the potter's vessels shall be broken to pieces' - as I also have received from My Father; - -27

Gives Heaven
"In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." - -3
And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Luke 23:43
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Hebrews 5:9
